Kefir Question

I recently saw kefir on your list of essential baby foods.

We have made our own kefir from pasteurized milk for several years and love to share the kefir grains with friends.

What are we missing out on by not using raw milk? Would we notice a difference in production? And, finally, would we be passing along healthier grains to others?

Thank you for your question regarding Kefir.

You will always have a higher quality product with raw milk. However, if your only access is to that of pasteurized, you are still gaining benefit from cultured foods.

I am not an expert though in the making of kefir but have attached a PDF document for your further reading here.

In good health!
