Warning Signs Diabetes

The diabetes symptoms quiz below can help you determine the warning signs diabetes brings.

Your early symptoms of diabetes of course are your blood sugar numbers from any lab work you may have had recently.

Your best range for blood glucose is a fine line between the numbers of 70-90 mg/dl.

In order to avoid the costly and potentially deadly health robbing affects of diabetes, take the below diabetes symptoms quiz and if you answer yes to one or more of these symptoms, you need to first make a Dr. appointment and second, begin practicing the Phase I program to begin healing your cells and normalize your blood glucose levels.

Diabetes Symptoms Quiz:

  • Unquenchable thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Weekness and/or fatigue
  • Tingling or Numbness of hands, legs or feet
  • Blurred vision
  • Extreme hunger
(Especially after eating. This the first sign of insulin resistance)

Many professionals will agree that there are 6 milestones to the road of Diabetes and they are in order:

  • Insulin Resistance of Cells: This is the stage in which your excessive consumption of carbohydrate that leads to excess glucose is being stored as fat. This means your cells are less responsive to the insulin.
  • Insulin Resistance with Hyperinsulinism: To compensate for insulin resistance, your pancreas pours out extra insulin in an attempt to force your cells to take in glucose and to maintain your blood sugar within normal range. You now have what Dr.s call Hyperinsulenima meaning excess insulin in the blood. This, hunger from the diabetes symptoms quiz.
  • Insulin Resistance with hyperinsulinism and reactive hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Your blood sugar and insulin production now become increasingly out of sinc. Your blood sugar rises but now the insulin surge takes longer to occur and when it does happen, you produce more insulin than is needed. When the insulin finally does kick in, hyour glucose then drops below its normal level, causing reactive hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. Hypoglycemic symptoms include shakiness, nausea and exhaustion. This causes more hunger signals which causes the person to eat and the cycle continues as mentioned in the diabetes symptoms quiz.
  • Insulin Resistance and hyperinsulinism with impaired glucose tolerance or Pre-Diabetes-your early symptoms diabetes The amount of sugar in your blood begins to peak at higher than the normal range. You now have reached the fourth stage which is referred to as impaired glucose tolerance and better head to the drug store to get a blood glucose meter and test 2 hours after every meal and educate yourself with the links below. Don't ignore this! It could mean the difference between a healthy life and amputated limbs.
  • Type 2 Diabetes with insulin resistance and high insulin production This represents the early phase of true diabetes. In this stage, your fasting blood sugar is usually 126 mg/dl or higher and your blood sugar after meals will consistently be even higher above the normal range. At this point, most people continue to have high levels of insulin production combined with severe insulin resistance. Now, your pancreas is in great danger of demise. The beta cells only make so much insulin until we've ruined those cells.
  • Type 2 Diabetes with virtually little to no insulin production You are now an insulin dependent diabetic. Sadly, it is only when you have reached these last two stages that a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes is finally made. Now the diagnosis is hard to miss. Your fasting blood sugar is in the diabetic range of 126 mg/dl or higher and the diabetic symptoms quiz as shown above will surely show the signs of increased thirst, urination and blurred vision.
  • Our diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes is now much closer to that of Type 1 diabetics, the auto-immune disease previously known as Juvenille Diabetes. It is becoming more and more common in adults. Currently, 2 people in my life have been diagnosed with auto-immune type 1 and one of them had all symptoms on the diabetes symptoms quiz.

I am in a network of folks that will be the first to tell you, the ADA is sadly behind the times with their dietary advice. Insulin is not the panacea that Dr.s and Dieticians would like to think it is. Remember, insulin is your fat storage hormone.

To control the diet is to control the amount of insulin you will need. You're in the right place for dietary advice....I promise!

Avoid the costly advice of the ADA

Dr. Richard Bernstein, a 64 year diabetic and medical Dr. has been treating diabetics for many years. Learn what the best in his field has to offer if you've answered yes to any of the above on this diabetes symptoms quiz.

Jenny Ruhl, a Type 2 diabetic and Bernstein follower has put together a great deal of information to help you understand and manage your blood sugar control. She is an authority and her mantra is "What they don't tell you about diabetes". All testing advice, equipment, medication reviews, medication dangers can all be easily found on Jenny's site.

I have had clients challenge my advice after a dietary review with their physicians.

The following is one of these accounts:

Barbara is a 67 year old diabetic and breast cancer survivor. Barbara has been a diagnosed type 2 diabetic for 20 years. She came in to my class room one day and during our appointment she mentioned that she had been using Dr. Barnard’s vegan diabetic plan and was finding that she was utilizing a great deal of insulin which consequently was making her sleepy and ill. I recommended she try a lower carbohydrate approach. After 3 days Barbara’s blood sugars were dropping but when she entered my office she exclaimed “My Dr. doesn’t like your diet, I’m going back to Barnard’s program”. I said “I know and I’m not surprised. Barbara, you must do what makes you feel comfortable but understand you have a glucose metabolism imbalance”. I knew at that point that Barbara’s decision was made out of fear for her cancer but 4 days later, Barbara is in my office again and almost in tears because she had once again lost control of her blood sugar and with the previous information I had shared with her regarding glucose metabolism and cancer, she was scared to death. In this short period of time Barbara had felt such dramatic differences that her trust in me escalated. From over 200ml on her glucose readings now down to 120ml and still dropping.

What I would really like to say is, many have been in and out of their Doctors offices and dietician appointments with the Standard USDA Food Guide Pyramid only to have continued elevated blood sugar readings and begin suffering the demise of neuropathy, damaged eye sight, sores that will not heal and eventually, heart disease. Jenny Ruhl of Diabetes 101 has stated that studies have shown that heart disease begins to develop at blood glucose levels of 155.

Don't make the costly mistake that will take your life. The sooner you realize that whole grains raise blood glucose dramatically and not "true health food", the healthier you will be.

Once you've determined where you are on the diabetes symptoms quiz, You can dig in and work to regulate it. With these three books, not only will you be more educated than your Doctor, you will be able to live a long, healthy symptom free life!
