Coconut oil and kids

Hi Misty,

My 6 month old son just started daycare and has in the first week gotten a runny nose and cough. I breast feed and make his baby food (just started solids with avocado and sweet potato).

I take a prenatal vitamin, Magnesium, cod liver oil, and 3 TBS. of coconut oil.

I am wondering if adding coconut oil to my baby's diet would be a good thing to help fight off viruses.

What do you think and if you think it is a good idea, how much should I give.

Hi Terra

In fact coconut oil with its anti-viral, anti-microbial properties is a fabulous addition to baby's diet!

I would also recommend you begin adding Cod Liver Oil to his diet as well. This was the secret elixir of the child's diet so many years ago. The Vitamin D in the cod liver oil will provide him protection against cold, virus and flu. D is an immuno supportive nutrient.

1/2 teaspoon would be sufficient and you can begin slowly by putting a touch on the nipple and in a few days add it to his food.

Congratulations on your new special little bundle and keep me posted!
