Can Hypo Thyroid mean you may have to eat higher carbs to lose?

Misty I have been low carbing for months and I have lost 20 pounds and I have alot to lose. I keep going up and down a couple pounds. I have actually been following a strick Atkins 72 just because its pretty cut and dry.

I measure a tbs of heavy cream for my coffee in the mornings. Today it just hit me. Maybe my body needs more carbs to lose in the form of veggies only.

I have a sister that isnt anything like me but loses better on higher carb, could I be so lucky?

I am afraid to try it because I dont want to go backwards. Whats your opinion on this?

I just feel when a person needs to lose 100 I should be losin at a little faster rate even if I am 53. Thanks Debbie

Thyroid health

Hi Debbie

My apologies for the delayed response.

Some speculate that the thyroid does better on higher carbohydrate. However, when we take a look at the physiology of the thyroid and tie our eating to an ancestral style, we know that we did not have access to high carbs all season and in some areas, for an extended part of the season.

The thyroid needs iodine and other minerals as well, cholesterol and Vitamin A & D to function properly. The master mineral, Magnesium is one of the most important for over all health.

Treat the thyroid well by incorporating iodine containing foods like sea vegetables. If you feel comfortable, get yourself on an iodine supplement and check out this link for more information.

Stop The Thyroid Madness

Please pay special attention to the need for selenium and possibly, testing your zinc and copper levels prior to supplementation.

In health!
