Breastfeeding and weightloss

What diet do you recommend for breastfeeding mothers who need to lose weight?

My baby is 3 months now and exclusively breastfed. Will I cause damage by cutting out grains and starches?

Thank you for your inquiry and congratulations on that new baby! I'm going to be a Grandmother twice this year and our family is ecstatic!

While cutting grains from the diet can benefit everyone by preventing potential allergies even through breast milk, I would keep starches such as butternut squash, pumpkin and sweet potato in the diet.

We don't want your breast milk to be reduced. I know how important it is for new Mom's to get back into shape but we don't want to do that at the expense of the Mother's milk supply.

2 fruits,1 starch and plenty of veggies along with sufficient amounts of protein and fat would be a nice healthy diet for you.

Incorporating coconut milk, coconut oil and flakes can be beneficial to your diet and milk supply.

Practicing The Paleo Diet without elimination of any of the food groups would assist you in getting to your goal all while breastfeeding a healthy baby.

In good health!
