I have a question about Gout! I have followed your diet for about 16 weeks. I began having ankle pain during week 13 and finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with gout. He instructed me to reduce my red meat intake and to increase my water. In addition he changed my blood pressure medicine (off diuretics which is a major cause of gout).
I went on line to research food items with high purines which can trigger gout. It listed: cauliflower, spinach, asparagus, organ meats, pork, bouillion, chicken, beef, oats,beans, full grains and non-refined sugars!
Well now I am at a loss as to what I should eat and still stay low carb. Can you help me?
I'm feeling somewhat defeated as my weight loss was going well on the low carb healthy eating plan!
